Add App Configuration

The Configuration section is used to add new app configuration and apply it to different groups.

To add new app configuration, follow these steps:

Create/Edit Details

  1. In Create/Edit Details section, enter the configuration name.
  2. Select Restrict new app installation on the devices checkbox to block newly installed app from opening on ADO and KNOX supported devices.
  3. Note: On normally enrolled devices, the user will be able to install the new app, however upon launch the app will get blocked.

  4. Select the Default check box to make this app configuration a default configuration.
  5. Select the Do not block the apps that are pending for upgrade/update check box to allow any recommended app irrespective of its upgrade.
  6. Click Next.

The Edit Configuration page is displayed.

App Categories

In App Categories section, you can take the following steps:

  1. Select the app categories which are to be blocked on Android devices.
  2. To select all the available app categories, you can select the Select All check box.
  3. To exclude any app from the blocked category, you can add that particular app to the Whitelisted apps list by clicking Add Apps.

White listing an App

  1. To whitelist an app, click Add Apps in Whitelisted App section.
  2. Add apps to whitelist popup appears.

  3. Select the app/apps and click Add Apps.

Blacklisted Apps

In Blacklisted Apps section, you can restrict the apps by adding the apps to the Apps to Remove list and Apps to Block list.

To add apps to Apps to Remove list, follow these steps:

  1. In Edit Configuration click Blacklisted Apps.
  2. Select Apps to Remove and then click Add Apps.
  3. Add apps to uninstall list popup appears.

  4. Select the app and click Save.

To add apps to Apps to Block list, follow these steps:

  1. In Edit Configuration click Blacklisted Apps.
  2. Select Apps to Block and then click Add Apps.
  3. Add apps to Blocked Apps list popup appears.

  4. Select the app and click Save.

Note:

  • Apps added to the Apps to block list are not visible/disabled on the ADO and KNOX supported devices.
  • Apps added to Apps to remove list can be remotely uninstalled or disabled from ADO and KNOX devices.
  • For iOS devices only those apps can be uninstalled which are added by Seqrite Enterprise Mobility Management console.

Published Apps

In Published Apps section, you can recommend/publish any Android app or app version on devices.

To add apps to Published App list, follow these steps:

  1. In Edit Configuration click Published Apps.
  2. Click Add Apps.
  3. Add apps to Publish Apps list popup appears.

  4. Select the app and click Add Apps.
  5. Click Save.

Note:

  • Make sure the Restrict new app installation on ADO and Knox Enabled Devices check box is not selected in app configuration.
  • User will not be able to uninstall, force stop, and clear cache for published apps on Samsung KNOX devices.
  • Published Custom Android Apps will be silently installed on Samsung KNOX and the ADO enabled (OS 6 and later) devices.
  • Published App store iOS apps will get installed on iOS devices.

System Kiosk Mode

In System Kiosk Mode section, you can recommend a single app (Android and iOS) in Kiosk mode for ADO and KNOX supported devices.
Note:

  • System Kiosk Mode is applicable for ADO/KNOX enabled Android and Supervised iOS devices.
  • Once you enabled the kiosk mode, only custom apk’s are allowed to add.
  • Make sure the Restrict new app installation on ADO & Knox Enabled Devices check box is not selected in app configuration.

To add Android app in system kiosk mode, follow these steps:

  1. In Edit Configuration click System Kiosk Mode .
  2. Select Android App and click Add Apps.
  3. Add Apps for Kiosk Mode popup appears.

  4. Select the app and click Add Apps.
  5. Click Save.

To add iOS app in system kiosk mode, follow these steps:

  1. In Edit Configuration click System Kiosk Mode .
  2. Select iOS App and click Add Apps.
  3. Add Apps for Kiosk Mode popup appears.

  4. Select the app and click Add Apps.
  5. Click Save.

Note: iOS commands (Remote Buzz, Locate, Buzz, Fetch Logs, Broadcast) will not work if kiosk mode is active on iOS device.

Launcher

A launcher is the customized home screen that appears on managed devices. Instead of the default interface, it provides a controlled environment where only approved apps and features are visible.

It contains three sections:

  • Launcher Settings: In this section you can define the whitelisted app settings and custom launcher settings.
  • To define the whitelisted App and custom launcher settings, select the required settings and click Save.

  • Active Apps: This gives the list of whitelisted apps that are active on the launcher.
    To add apps in Normal Mode or Custom Kiosk Mode:

    • Click Add Apps. The Add apps on launcher popup is displayed.
    • Select the apps that you want to view on the Launcher and click Add Apps.

    Note:

    • In Kiosk Mode, you can add only one app to the Active Apps list. This Launcher Kiosk Mode is applicable to the non-ADO devices.
    • If the System Kiosk Mode settings are active with Launcher Kiosk Mode, then System Kiosk Mode settings will be applied on the ADO supported devices.
    • Only the selected app versions are visible on the Launcher.
    • Make sure that the apps added to the Active Apps list are installed on the user’s device.
  • Branding
  • This section allows you to personalize managed devices by setting the company name, logo, and wallpaper. This ensures a consistent look across all devices.

    To enable branding on launcher:

    1. Select the Branding on Launcher checkbox.
    2. All the other fields on the page get enabled, where you can change the Company Name, Company Logo, and Launcher Wallpaper.

    3. Change the Company logo and Launcher Wallpaper by clicking the down arrow > Upload > selecting the image.
    4. Note:

      • Use a 300×300 resolution image for logos and 1080×1920 for wallpapers.
    5. Click Save.
    6. The changes are reflected on the Launcher. The app configuration is created successfully.

      You can export the details of the configuration in PDF format.

    Note: The changes done to company name and logo, and launcher wallpaper, from this section (Launcher Setting) will override all the company and launcher settings of Custom Settings.

    Android App Management

    Android App Management configuration is applicable only to the Android Management API (AMA) enrolled devices. This feature lets you manage app permissions, installation, uninstallation, and app verification. You can add and uninstall apps silently on the device.
