Add App Configuration

You can add App configuration and apply it various groups.

Adding new App Configuration contains following sections:

Create/Edit Details

  1. Log on to the Seqrite EMM console and in the left pane, click Apps > Configuration > Add App Configuration.
  2. In Edit Details section, enter the configuration name.
  3. Select Restrict new app installation on the devices to block newly installed app from opening on ADO and KNOX supported devices.
  4. Note:

    • If you are recommending the apps, adding app to the Launcher, or adding app to System Kiosk Mode, then you will receive a prompt to clear the Restrict new app installation on ADO and Knox Enabled Devices check box. Then either use the check box or the App Configuration settings.
    • The Launcher Setting and Branding options are visible only for the Android device.
  5. Select the Default check box to make this app configuration a default configuration.
  6. Select Do not block the apps which are pending for upgrade/update check box to allow any recommended app irrespective of its upgrade or downgrade.
  7. Click Next.

Edit Configuration page appears.

Edit Configuration

Edit Configuration contains following sections:

App Categories

In this section, you can select the app categories that will be blocked on Android devices.

To block the app/apps:

  1. Select the app categories check boxes which are to be blocked.
  2. To select all the available app categories, select the Select All check box.

Whitelist Apps
To exclude any app from the blocked category, you can add that particular app to the Whitelisted apps list
To whitelist the app:

  • Click Add Apps, select the app from the list and click Add Apps.

Note: You can also whitelist perticular version of an app.


Blacklisted Apps

In Blacklisted Apps section, you can restrict the apps by adding the apps to the Apps to Remove list and Apps to Block list.

Note: Blacklisted apps will be hidden from ADO enabled/KNOX supported devices.

Apps to Remove

These are apps that will be uninstalled from the device. Once removed, they are no longer present on the device and cannot be used unless admin reinstalled them.

To add apps to Apps to Remove list:

  1. Click Apps to Remove tab.
  2. Click Add Apps, select the app yoiu want to remove and then click Add Apps.

Note: iOS Apps will be installed from the iOS devices.

Apps to Block

These apps remain installed on the device, but users are restricted from opening or using them.

To add apps to Apps to Block list:

  1. Click Apps to Block tab.
  2. Click Add Apps, select the app you want to block and then click Add Apps.

Note: App blocking is not applicable to iOS devices.

Published Apps

Published Apps are the apps that are published on devices and users can install and access them.

To add to published apps list:

  1. Click Published App section.
  2. Click Add Apps, select the app from Add Apps to Publish Apps list and then click Add Apps.

Note:

  • Published custom Android Apps will be silently installed on Samsung KNOX and ADO enabled (OS 6 and later) devices.
  • Selected versions of the App will be whitelisted/published on the device.
  • Published Apps through App Store will be installed on iOS devices.

System Kiosk Mode

You can add Android and iOS apps to System Kiosk Mode, and make them accessible on managed devices.

Note:

  • System Kiosk Mode is applicable for ADO/KNOX enabled Android and Supervised iOS devices.
  • System Kiosk mode settings have higher preference over Launcher Kiosk Mode.
  • Once you enabled the kiosk mode, only custom apk’s are allowed to add.
  • iOS commands(Remote Buzz, Locate, Fetch logs, Broadcast) will not work if Kiosk mode is active on iOS device.

Adding Android Apps
To add Android apps:

  1. Click System Kiosk Mode section.
  2. Click Android Apps tab.
  3. Click Add Apps, select the app from Add Apps for Kisok Mode list and then click Add Apps.

Adding iOS Apps
To add iOS apps:

  1. Click System Kiosk Mode section.
  2. Click iOS Apps tab.
  3. Click Add Apps, select the app from Add Apps for Kisok Mode list and then click Add Apps.

Launcher

Launcher is a custom home screen that allows admins control which apps, features, and settings users can see and use when the device is in kiosk or managed mode.

It contain following sections:

Launcher Settings
In this section, you can ON or OFF the launcher, define whitelisted apps and settings, and configure custom launcher settings.

To define the setting:

  1. Click Launcher >> Launcher Settings.
  2. Select Whitelisted Apps and Settings, Custom Launcher settings and click Save.

Note:

  • The Launcher configuration will always have the highest preference as compared to app configurations. If Launcher is activated, only the Launcher configuration will work on the device and app configurations will not be applicable. When the Launcher is deactivated, all the app configurations will be applied again on the device.
  • If the Seqrite Launcher option is turned OFF, the Launcher will get deactivated from the device. The device user will not receive any prompt to uninstall the Launcher. When the Launcher activates, you can configure the following things:
    Launcher reminder: Use this option to set the time and send a prompt to the user to activate the Launcher on the device. The available options are 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 30 minutes.
  • Default Exit Period: You can configure the time to exit the Launcher. Enter the time in the Default Exit Period field to allow the user to exit the Launcher for a limited period. The user of the device must enter the passcode to exit the launcher. The default time to exit the launcher is 30 minutes.
  • Primary Settings: Configure the primary settings to access the selected settings on the device Launcher screen. To know more about primary settings, see Primary Settings.
    Device Settings: Configure the device settings options to access the selected device settings on the Launcher screen.

Active Apps

In this section you can add apps to the Launcher in Normal Mode and Kiosk Mode.

To add apps/whitelist apps on launcher:

  1. Select the mode that is either Normal or Kiosk.
  2. Click Add Apps, select the app and click Add Apps.

Note:

  • In Kiosk Mode, the added app will be in auto start mode and other apps (Camera, Calls, SMS Settings) will be disabled.

Branding

In this section you can set company name, company logo and launcher wallpaper to customize the home screen of managed devices.

To define branding:

  1. Click Branding, enter company name, company logo, launcher wallpaper, and click Save.

Note:

  • Use a 300×300 pixel image for the company logo.
  • Use a 1080×1920 pixel image for the launcher wallpaper.

Android App Management

Android App Management configuration is applicable only to the Android Management API (AMA) enrolled devices. This feature lets you manage app permissions, installation, uninstallation, and app verification. You can add and uninstall apps silently on the device.
