Use Assign Custom Policy to assign one or more custom policies to selected endpoints. Custom policies override the settings defined in the Container Policy.
To assign a custom policy:
- On the Status page, select the endpoints to which you want to assign a custom policy.
- From Client Actions, select Assign Custom Policy.
- In the Assign Custom Policy dialog, select the required custom policy or policies.
- Under Expiry Date, configure the policy assignment.
- Under Expiry Time, configure the time you want the policy to be unassigned.
- Click Assign.

The Assign Custom Policy dialog provides the following options:

| Search by policy | Search for a specific custom policy by name. |
| Policy Type | Filter custom policies based on their policy type. |
| Custom Policies | Displays the available custom policies. Select the required policy to assign it to the selected endpoints. |
| Expiry Date | Select whether the policy assignment is permanent or temporary. For a temporary assignment, specify the expiry date. |
| Expiry Time | Specify the time at which a temporary policy assignment expires. |
Note: For a Policy Applied Permanently assignment, the expiry date and time are not required.
Policy assignment behavior
- A custom policy overrides the corresponding settings of the Container Policy for the selected endpoints.
- A permanent custom policy remains assigned until it is manually removed or replaced.
- A temporary custom policy is automatically unassigned when the configured expiry date and time are reached.
