Migration to Cloud

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This page will guide you through the step-by-step migration process to import Seqrite Endpoint Protection 8.3 data, including client information, groups, policies, admin settings, and global configurations to Seqrite Endpoint Protection Cloud.

Migration Process Overview

This migration process will facilitate the transfer of data, including groups, policies, and endpoints, from EPP 8.3 to the Cloud. After exporting the necessary data from the EPP Server and importing it into the EPP Cloud tenant, you will find all the migrated EPP endpoints in offline mode. Next, download the .dat file from the cloud tenant and issue the migration command for the migrated endpoints via the EPP Console under Client Actions.

Importing Data

To import the data, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Seqrite Endpoint Protection Cloud Console > Deployment > Migration tab.
  2. Select the option Migrate to Cloud.
  3. Click Import to import the previously downloaded data from the EPP Server. For detailed information on the export and download process, please refer to this page. Once the import is successful, follow the instructions mentioned here to migrate endpoints.

Endpoint Migration Instructions

Once the import is successful in the EPP Cloud, the Download button will be enabled under Console > Deployment > Migration. Click this button to download the miginfo.dat file.

Initiating the Migration on the EPP Server

  1. Access the EPP Server Console: Here, you can issue the migrate command to either an individual endpoint, a group of endpoints, or all endpoints by selecting the main group. It is recommended to migrate all endpoints simultaneously for efficiency.
  2. Select the Target Entity:
    • On the Status page, select the desired entity (individual endpoint, group, or main group).
  3. Initiate the Migration:
    • Click the Action dropdown.
    • Select the Migrate action.
  4. Upload the Migration File:
    • You will be prompted to upload the miginfo.dat file that you previously downloaded from the EPP Cloud console. Note that this upload is a one-time activity, so ensure you are uploading the correct file.
  5. Submit the Migration:
    • Click Submit to initiate the Migrate action.

Monitoring the Migration Process

  • Check the Action Log: After submission, monitor the Action Log to confirm that the Migrate action is queued. The status will change to Successful once the endpoint receives the Migrate command.

Post-Migration Steps

  • Upon receiving the Migrate command, endpoints running versions 10.9 or 10.11 will be uninstalled, and the 10.12 client will be installed.
  • You can verify the updated version on the EPP Cloud tenant's status page.

Important Note
During the endpoint migration, a restart is required. Be prepared to restart the endpoint when prompted.

Migration Feature Guidance

Mandatory Migration to Version 8.3: EPS 8.1 and EPS 8.2 customers must upgrade to version 8.3 to access the migration feature.

Note

  • It is recommended to upgrade to the latest version 10.11 client to avoid discrepancies, such as the generation of encryption reports.
  • If devices are protected by BitLocker, ensure that the recovery keys are readily available before starting the upgrade.
