Upgrade Control Settings

Upgrade Control Settings is a feature within the SEQRITE Endpoint Protection Cloud console that allows administrators to manage how and when endpoint clients receive upgrades. It introduces a consent-based upgrade flow that gives users control over reboot timing, ensuring smoother transitions and minimal disruption.

Depending on the configuration, admins can:

  • Choose between silent upgrades or user-consent-based upgrades
  • Set a maximum number of days (0–7) for users to reboot their systems
  • Trigger upgrade notifications and monitor upgrade status in real time

This feature is especially useful for organizations that want to balance security compliance with user convenience, ensuring upgrades happen promptly without forcing immediate reboots.

Note: The Consent Based Upgrade is applicable only for WIndows

Upgrade Steps for Windows Clients

Prerequisites

  • Client Agent versions: v10.9.0.0 or v10.12.0
  • VDB date:
    1. If VDB date is before 29 Aug 2025 , the upgrade happens silently without asking the user for consent.
    2. If VDB date is on or after 29 Aug 2025 the system displays a consent prompt before the upgrade begins.
  • AV status should be in ‘Success’ state.

The upgrade fro v 10.11 to 10.13 is also applicable, however, it will not be a Consent Based Upgrade

Steps

  1. Log in to the “SEQRITE Endpoint Protection” Cloud web console.
  2. Go to Admin Settings.
  3. Click Upgrade Control → Upgrade Control Settings.
  4. Set Max Number of Days to Reboot (0–7 days):
  • 0 days: No consent prompt. Upgrade follows old flow — Client Agent and AV are uninstalled silently, reboot prompt shown, new AV installed after restart.
  • 1–7 days: Consent prompt displayed on client.
  • § Max time to auto‑upgrade is calculated from when the prompt is received.
Example: If set to 1 day and prompt is received on 4 July 2025 at 10:00 AM, the device must reboot by 5 July 2025 at 10:00 AM.

    1. Save the Upgrade Control settings.
    2. Go to the Status page.
    3. Select the clients to upgrade and send the Upgrade Clients command.
    4. Send Upgrade Notification.

    Consent Prompt Behavior

    • Once the notification is sent, the client system displays the consent prompt.
AV status changes to Upgrade in Progress.
    • If “Upgrade and restart now” is selected:
      1. Upgrade starts immediately.
      2. AV status changes to Reboot Required.
      3. Before restart, prompt text changes to remind the user to save work.
    • If “Snooze and remind me later in” is selected:
      1. Prompt reappears after snooze time.
      2. User can snooze until max time is reached, after which upgrade starts automatically.
    • After reboot, AV status changes to Success and client version updates to v10.13.0.0.

    Notes

    1. Windows client (including Server OS) upgrades require a reboot.
    2. If SEQRITE Universal Agent is installed, it will integrate into Seqrite Universal Agent after upgrade:
      • Default tray icon will be red.
      • Clicking the tray icon opens all installed agents.
